Invitations

I started to practice making invitations and I found one that I like.  Thanks to Katie, Kristen, and Brina for ideas and help I've come up with these...(ALSO a major thanks to Elise, Brina, Katie, and Kristen for helping me finish my save the dates!)
The back of the envelope is sealed with a wax seal with a W imprint (I'm hyphenating so my new last name will have the W :D). When you break it and open it up.....

...the invitation looks like this on the inside.  It will have an RSVP card and an information card with directions and our blog info.  They turned out so pretty!!

Cake Ideas

Navy blue for the pearl drops. Instead of drops around the bottom, a thick silver ribbon that will peek-a-boo out from a thinner royal blue ribbon. I'm  pretty sure this is the one I want but then I saw the one below...
Put a brushed silver on the draping-which costs a little more (my biggest hold back). The flowers would be white roses with some blue belladonna to match the bouquets.

Bridesmaid dresses

First jr bridesmaids dress, pretty but not the one!
First Bridesmaid dress try on. Very cute but not quite the favorite
2nd jr bridesmaid dress-she HATED it lol.
Another really cute one for both but still not the one!
Trying on the color to see how it looks. Pretty huh?!
This is Katies Bridesmaid dress. We'll be adding straps an of course it'll be in that royal blue color above. She looks so pretty!!!!!

They both decided on the same dress. They didn't have to match but they both really like this one and I love it. Its perfect summery dress and the style is HOT on both of them :)!
Elise thought this dress would be fun and shes right! Katie had a similar one on and hated it, the rest of us thought it was super cute...guess that means we're old lol!!

A little behind

There comes a point in every wedding where a bride feels a little behind.  I'm pretty early on in my planning so being behind isn't horrific or anything.  I was supposed to send my save the dates out at the beginning of this month but they aren't finished yet.  Whoops!

The good news is even though I am a little behind there I am ahead on getting quotes for my flowers and soon to be the cake.  Only thing left is the dresses really and a DJ.  I feel like I've got an ok handle on it.  Does that make me completely disillusioned? Most likely :).

Salon Options

So I wanted to start looking at salons-preferably ones that do bridal party packages to help us unwind and relax before the craziness begins.  Although I have learned that even with super planning the craziness can start at the salon ha ha ha.  So I found Paul Mitchell who do make up for $11.95 and up-dos at about $30.00.  Which sounds cheap but we did a school before and we were less than impressed.

This other place I found called pink & white salon http://www.pinkandwhitenails.com/Bridal1.html
It sounds like an absolute blast. We have our pick of services and they will even shut down the salon so we can have a little party with cupcakes and champagne for $500.  Which is really reasonable for a bridal party package.  I am 90% sure we can afford to do at least one hour as a treat for us girls.  My biggest question that I emailed them was if we only want to rent it out for an hour but our services take longer than that do we have to pay for the extra time? We would have our services well under way by that point and I don't see it taking longer than 2.

Right now I'm just salon shopping.  Nothing set in stone.  I might go to each salon and pay for a practice (its like $25-$30) just to see if I like it and get all my questions out. Then two months out making the final arrangements :)!

UPDATE: So I heard back from the pink&white and we can rent it out for just an hour even if our services take longer-they will just open the doors. Sounds like the way to go if they can accommodate all of us at the same time.  We would lose a ton of time if they don't have 6-8 stylist I'm thinking.  My mom and Adams mom will probably be very quick.  Mine shouldn't be too long either because I'm going very simple. *Squee* so excited.  Need some of my girls to come with me for a test-I think its like $25 for a test do.

Questions we have to ask

  1. What wedding processional songs (in and out) do we want? Traditional or modern? THOUGHTS: Traditional wedding processional in-modern processional song out.
  2.  Do I want a double parent escort? Just my Dad?
  3. Wording on the ceremony? THOUGHTS: We're having a civil ceremony-I think I want to use as long as we both shall live-more positive. Do we want to write our own vows?
  4. For the groomsmen, vests and ties, vests, or cumberbunds? THOUGHTS: I think I have ruled out cummerbunds because they're too formal.  The girls are going to be in tea length because its on a boat and it will be summer and putting the men in cummerbunds is too formal. I'm thinking groomsmen in vests and Adam in a vest and tie.
  5. Do we want a DJ or our own iPod mix?
  6. Do we want just flower arrangements on the table or other decorations-chairs etc?
These are early on questions, this will be ongoing as we think of them. Just so when it comes time to make those decisions we have our thoughts laid out.

Oh I forgot....

Take a look at the venue :). Its the Willamette star.  The layout is just gorgeous and it has a nice bar and nice flow to it.

Let the planning begin

Met with the venue yesterday.  It went really well.  We got the contract in an email and the deposit money comes in next week. We're both super excited at the layout and the potential of our venue.  Adam is going to be wearing his class A uniform for the Gresham police dept which is navy blue. So I'm thinking two shades of blue-which seems like a lot of blue but with some trimmings of silver or gray really minor trimmings here and there. The venue provides white linens which will break it up a lot too.

I found a great pictures of wedding flowers for inspiration-I think it will pull the whole look together well and I think they're drop dead gorgeous!!
